We pulled our Graphic Designer Sean away from InDesign to talk to us about his love of Nicki Minaj, learning to make clothes and why creating things makes him feel like a higher being.
I’m one of a number of designers so my day mainly consists of making logo or layout options. Anything that involves imagery or branding I am able to do it.
As a graphic designer, I want to learn more about the process of working with clients to achieve their end goals. I want to learn more about the business aspect and gain experience and confidence.
Adobe changed the proportional scale and transform. It used to be that you hold shift when resizing to lock it in proportion, now it’s default in Photoshop but not in InDesign.
I really enjoy the fabric row area in Queen Village, the houses are beautiful and there are a lot of great stores. I took a number of tailoring lessons on fabric row as my original major was Fashion Design before doing Graphic Design.
I am starting to do more street photography so I would be walking around Philly with my camera. I am also currently learning Blender the 3D modelling software in my own time as I want to be able to create more than just graphics. I feel like I am a higher being when I am creating things from nothing.
I’m a huge fan of Nicki Minaj and SZA, they are both my go-to music when I’m designing. I don’t listen to a lot of Podcasts but I am an audiobook person. I’m currently listening to Dale Carnegie’s book “How to win friends and influence people”. It was a weird coincidence that my first task at iperdesign was designing a layout for Dale Carnegie’s section on our website.
I make clothes. Alongside the tailoring course, I completed I also design and make my own t-shirts. I’ve also created some Avant-Garde pieces that are little more out there.
I admire my Aunt Carolyn the most because she has worked hard to get where she is. The quality I admire the most in her is her ability to start and finish every project she tries. I aspire to be like her in business and have her level of success in my Graphic Design work.
“You’re good, chill the f out”. I am highly critical of myself and everything I do and I don’t want to let it get in the way of finishing projects.
